Maybe what he wrote is how he feels! Did you think of that possibility? Give the guy a break, I think he's doing the best he can.

Gred Stafford Not committed--too afraid of being DFd!
by cyberguy inive just completed the reading of greg staffords latest book, "the three dissertations on the teachings of jehovahs witnesses.
" although i appreciate his point-of-view overall, i find that his writing is often difficult to follow and at worst, not forthright on doctrinal issues.
basically, i find his writings rather anemic, hes just not forthright; he evidently doesnt want to be dfd!

Is There a Judicial Committee Quota?
by Stephanus injust had a thought: after reading the physical repercussions of jcs thread, i was speculating, on the basis that many elders can apparently be bought, that a benevolent, rich, philanthropical type of person could possibly strike a deal with the elders of his local cong.
: "no jcs in this cong (they're too cruel and nasty), and you'll be well looked after".
then i thought, no, it wouldn't work, would it?

I can only speak for my personal experience but I only met one Elder that didn't hate Judicial meetings.

CO Visit
by TemeculaMole incurrently the co is visiting the congo (congregation).
sadly i was not paying much attention to his talk and by the time he got to something interesting i wished i was listening.. he was babbling on about identifying a "pattern" and how the jw's have a pattern of identifying the truths (trininty, hell, etc).
it got interesting when he bgean to say dont worry about the mistakes made, we have a pattern of truth and these mistakes should be ignored (my paraphrase).

One! I know a dozen that are Monday golfers, and some of them like to get in a few hole on Tuesday morning if they can. District Overseers are worse. Too bad most Witnesses don't get Monday off to play golf, they'd probably be a whole lot happier.

Wonderful news about Iraq..NO NEED FOR WAR!
by freeman inwell it looks like we will be sending our troops home, as we dont have to worry about iraq retaining, creating, or using weapons of mass destruction anymore (wmd).
the iraqi dictator has sent a note to the chief u. n. weapons inspector informing him that he (has just now enacted legislation making wmd's illegal.
this wonderful news was announced by a gleeful hans blix just today at a televised meeting at the u.n.

Mr. Pennwell how many innocent women and children are your prepared to see die outside Irag if Hussein is not stopped? What about all the innocent women and children inside Iraq that he's already killed? How many more of them are you prepared to see die because he hasn't been stopped? This guy has invade two countries and launced missiles at five countries. What does it take to get to reality?
As far as Blix goes, he's revealed his true colors, he will try to thwart war at any cost, he was hand picked in the first place by the appeasement at all costs bunch. He said he needed to "study the document" about no Iraqi WMD, what a load of garbage.

Need some info on Pistols
by jelly ini am thinking of getting a pistol and i am not sure of what kind to get.
i went to an indoor range today and tried out a glock .45 (the smaller model) and a heavier .45. i found the glock rested well in my hand but i could shoot much more accurately with the heavier (and longer barreled) pistol.
any way, i am looking for a home protection / target practice pistol and would like any input on what caliber to get.

For strictly home defense I weigh in with the shotgun crowd. I don't know how big you are or how much time you're willing to spend training so it makes it a little hard to make a specific recommendation. But if you're not too big or female you might want to consider a 20 gauge, and an automatic, not a pump. Too many people will short stroke a pump in a combat situation. In a 12 gauge really really recommend that you go with No. 4 buck instead of 00 because it is much more controllable and it won't over penentrate which means you won't shoot someone in the next bed room or apartment or whatever, No. 3 Buck for the 20 Gauge. With the 20 gauge you will get 75% of the lead wiht 40 or 50% of the recoil. Getting wacked with a 20 gauge load of No. 3 Buck is like getting two .44 Magnums in the chest. With an automatic, follow up shots will be controlled and quick, not that you'll need them. Lethality from one shot is about 83%.
If you get a hand gun, get yourself some training and put a minimum of 1,000 rounds through it on the range.

I know of one congregation that had one judicial committee meeting in 23 years. When it came along they really didn't know how to deal with it. The person was reproved in the end and they said they hoped they didn't have another one for 20 years.

If it comes to taking out a chemical or bio weapons store then I think a battlefield nuke would be just the thing. Incinerate the stuff. Fallout is minimal. If Iraq uses WMD on Israel there's a very high probability that you'll see a strategic weapon used. Bye bye Tikrit.
